We are a public non-profit community based agency that provides mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse treatment and prevention services. We offer a full benefit package with enrollment in Virginia Retirement System (fully paid by employer) for full time positions and partial benefits for part time positions.

Admission & Referral Center Therapist

Full time daylight position based in Front Royal, VA. Requires the incumbent to provide initial screening. triage and crisis evaluation services for potential clients seeking services at our agency. Assess if caller meets our admission criteria and/or make referrals to other community agencies as needed. Master’s degree in human services field or current status as a Virginia Emergency Services Preadmission Screener preferred, along with professional and clinical experience in the provision of screenings, assessment, and crisis intervention techniques. Adult Mental Health Case Manager

Two full time positions one based in our Shenandoah County Adult Regional Center and one based on our Winchester Adult Regional Center. Provides case management for an assigned caseload of clients having serious and persistent mental illness. Develops, implements and reviews service plans, working with community resources to meet client needs; and maintains client records. Requires Bachelor’s degree in a related human services field and status of Medicaid Qualified Mental Health Case Manager.

Behavioral Specialist

Ten month positions based in Shenandoah and Frederick County Public Schools. Provides mental health services to children and youth. Provides support and intervention to clients and families; develops, implements and reviews individual service plans; is member of multidisciplinary team collaborating with school personnel and other community resources and services. May include some evenings. Bachelor’s degree in related human services field and one year clinical experience working directly with individuals with mental illness or mental retardation and status of Medicaid Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).

Child/Adolescent Day Treatment Coordinator

Full time position based in Winchester providing service for the Frederick County School System. Responsible for receiving, assigning and monitoring referrals for day treatment services, promoting and implementing day treatment services in jurisdictions served by NWCS, performing diagnostic assessments, developing service plans, and providing effective treatment services to youth having a variety of mental health problems. Monitors the level, duration and quality of services & documentation provided. Provides some limited direct services to program clients. Requires Master’s degree in a relevant human services field, with progressively responsible clinical experience working with troubled youth and their families in the provision of clinical and other therapeutic services designed to ameliorate various types of mental, emotional, and/or substance abuse disorders; or a combination of education, experience, and training indicating the possession of the essential knowledge, skills and abilities. Children, Youth and Family Services Intake Therapist

Position is responsible for making initial diagnostic and screening assessments, providing crisis, short-term and group counseling, developing effective therapeutic relationships and providing effective treatment interventions for children and adolescents having a broad range of service needs frequently in more than one single disability area. Requires Master’s degree in relevant field with job related clinical experience working with children or adolescents and LPC or LCSW licensure.

Clinical Director

full time position based in Front Royal, VA. Position maintains monitoring and oversight of all clinical services provided directly by NWCSB and consults closely with the Chief Operational Officer in the provision of these services. Position is a primary agency representative to other public and private organizations in the community and is responsible for development and implementation of special projects and partnerships with these entities. Also requires an exceptional level of leadership, professional judgment, confidentiality, independent decision-making, and the ability to work effectively with staff, consumers, Board Members, and agency leaders, and state representatives. Requirements: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Psychologist, or similar qualifications; must be currently licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia; must have experience providing services in multiple venues.

Early Intervention Specialist

Hourly position based in Front Royal, targeting pre-school children to promote communication, cognitive, social, emotional and self-help skills in partnership with Early Childhood Special Education teacher in a classroom setting. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience with young children.

Mental Health Residential Counselors

Hourly, non-benefited position to potentially cover the counties of Page, Shenandoah, Warren, Frederick and Clarke. Provides assessments and support in independent living activities for clients with serious mental illness. Requires Medicaid status of Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)* and valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s degree in related human services required. Rate of pay is per unit of service provided.

Secretary/Receptionist

hourly position based in our Luray office with minimum of two days per week and potential of being on call for other clinics in Woodstock, Front Royal and Winchester as needed. The incumbent of this position provides clerical/secretarial support within the Mental Health Outpatient Center through performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: front desk and telephone reception; fee collection and posting; preparation of typed materials; electronic client file maintenance; and appointment scheduling.
