REACH PROGRAM
REACH is a lifespan program that serves children and adults across the state.
The REACH program is designed to meet the crisis support needs of individuals who have a developmental disability and are experiencing crisis events that put them at risk for homelessness, incarceration, hospitalization, and/or danger to self or others. REACH programs offer an additional layer of support to emergency services, the state hospital system, and caregivers who work most closely with individuals with a developmental disability (DD).
Who is eligible for REACH services?
Individuals must have a documented intellectual and/or developmental disability AND co-occurring mental illness and/or significant behavioral challenges.

Waiver Info
CSBs are the single point of entry to gain access to the state wide DD Waiver Wait list. Any person found eligible for waiver services is then added to a state-wide waiver waitlist. It is important to note that not everyone who requests an ID/DD Waiver will be found eligible, and even when found eligible there may be a wait for a waiver slot. When available slots come open, a Waiver Slot Committee, made up of community volunteers and Department of Behavioral Health and Disability Services staff, select recipients from the list of people who have the highest level of need to receive the open waiver slot. Individuals may be on the wait list for years dependent on level of need, as level need changes so does placement on the waiver wait list priority.
To determine eligibility based on regulations established by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHD), Please contact our DD Services Intake Specialist at 540-667-8888 ext 1227.
